On behalf of the Sub-Aqua Association, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who attended our 50th Anniversary AGM and Dinner Dance.
Your presence helped make this milestone celebration truly special. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces reconnecting with old friends and also welcoming new members, as they shared memories from across five decades of our Association’s history.
A huge thank you also goes to the SAA Secretary, Keith Barnes for all the help and support he has given me throughout the planning and organisation of the celebrations. Keith has been there every step of the way, always willing to help and lend a hand whenever needed. He also regularly comes into the office to help me with the day to day business of the SAA of which I am greatly appreciative of. Thank you Keith for all your support and guidance.
The weekend was a fitting celebration of the people who have made the Sub-Aqua Association what it is today. Whether you travelled a long distance, helped behind the scenes, supported the organisation of the event, or simply joined us to celebrate, your contribution was greatly appreciated. The warmth and camaraderie throughout the weekend reminded us what makes the Sub-Aqua Association so special.
I am pleased to report that all three Ordinary Resolutions were passed unanimously, each receiving 100% of the votes cast.
The Special Resolution was also passed unanimously, receiving 100% of the votes cast. As a result, the Executive Committee now consists of five members. The resolution was approved on the proviso that a Regional Representative will be invited to attend all National Executive Committee meetings as a non-voting guest, ensuring that the regions continue to have a voice in all discussions.
Thank you for being part of this important milestone. Here’s to the next chapter of the Sub-Aqua Association and many more years of diving, friendship, adventure, and shared experiences.
Following the AGM, we were delighted to welcome Steve White from the Receiver of Wreck office, who gave an informative and engaging presentation. Steve shared valuable insights into the work of the Receiver of Wreck, members’ legal responsibilities when recovering items from the sea, and some fascinating examples from his experience. We are grateful to Steve for taking the time to join us and for delivering such an interesting talk.
Thank you once again to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this year’s AGM. Your continued support and involvement are greatly appreciated as we celebrate 50 years of the Sub-Aqua Association and look forward to the future.
